HOW MAGENTA 4 PROPERTY CAME TO BE
In 2015, while working at the Shepparton Family Relationship Centre in Victoria, I was mediating a property settlement with Trevor, another skilled FDRP. We had all the necessary tools, including a whiteboard and calculators. As we progressed, the parties were cooperative until we hit a snag—the columns added up to 109%!
While Trevor checked the calculations at the bottom of each column, I started checking the rows. Meanwhile, the parties began arguing. I had to intervene to prevent escalation. It was then I realized the importance of both left-brain math skills and right-brain mediation skills.
Trevor found the error, we got the mediation back on track, and the parties reached an agreement.
After debriefing, we knew there had to be a better way to handle property mediation. This led to the creation of MAGENTA 4 MEDIATORS and MAGENTA 4 PROPERTY. Over the next 7 years and more than 100 property mediations, we developed an Excel workbook that allows parties to work through the Family Law Property 4-step process and visualize their property settlement on a screen.
In 2022, it was time to take this to the next level. In 2024, we will launch the first app in a suite of apps on the MAGENTA 4 MEDIATORS platform, MAGENTA 4 PROPERTY.
